Winter essentials

During winter time your skin is always a bit more sensitive and dry and if not, well… you’re very lucky I’d say! I always have some skin care products that I use all winter long to keep my skin hydrated and healthy.

Shower & bath

Hot water is actually very bad for your skin during winter because it makes your skin more sensitive to the cold since it takes away the “protective layer” to protect your skin against the cold and other influences from outside. That’s why you should use rich shower oils, that nourish your skin again. I’ve been loving this shower oil from TOPIderm by Pannoc, which is a Belgian brand. They only add the essentials to their products to reduce the possibility of allergic reactions, perfect for me with my super sensitive skin!
Sometimes I scrub to take away the dead skin cells, and for this I’ve been using the Rituals Hammam Body Mud a lot lately. It was a Christmas present from one of my friends, they obvisouly know me well! The scent is just so relaxing, it makes me feel like being in the spa for a moment, which was also perfect to relax during the exam period (that luckily is finished now).
Another brand I really love for my bath moments is l’Occitane. My grandma and me always buy these products for each other because we know we both love them. Lately I’ve been using their different shower gels and the Lavender one is definitely one of my favorites!

Body & hands

After my shower or bath I nourish my skin with body butter or body milk, especially to make it extra soft and just because I love all those scents, hehe. During summer I always -as in every day more times a day- use After Sun because it’s one of my favorite scents ever and because it easily goes into your skin. But since it’s a bit weird to use after sun when your skin isn’t even exposed to sunshine I use this body milk, also from TOPIderm. It easily pulls into the skin because it contains 10% of ureum, which makes the absorption easier for your skin and it prevents itching. Because of the easy “airless” packaging you can use every drop inside with the easy dispenser without leaving a mess of bodymilk, pretty perfect right?
Another TOPIderm product I can really recommend is the hand creme. I don’t know what happened or what’s wrong with me but this winter my hands are extremely dry and sensitive with even some cracks in my skin, which really hurts. I honestly own a lot of different hand cremes just because I love them and I use hand creme while studying or working or just before going to bed. But because of these small cracks all those nice scenting hand cremes hurt like hell. I had been searching everywhere for a good creme without perfume and only natural ingredients and I was so hopeless I even got this special hand creme made by the pharmacist, which did wonders. But I only applied it at night since it’s not so easy to take with you and it’s kinda greasy with a special texture. When I found this  TOPIderm hand creme without perfume I actually found my daily savior! It came right in time for my ski trip next week and I will definitely take this one with me!

Facial night routines

I don’t like to apply lots of products on my face in general, but especially not during the day. Which makes night cremes perfect for me. Recommended by a friend I started using this nourishing night creme with vitamin E from The Body Shop. Since my skin tends to be greasy I can only use a thin layer, but it does wonders! I find it very relaxing to apply it before going to bed, and when I wake up my skin feels super soft and healthy.
During the exam period I decided to use eye creme for the huuuuge bags under my eyes. I went to Yves Rocher since that shop is close to me – can’t take my study breaks too long you know -.
At first I just wanted to use it to make me feel more “awake”. But after some nights of using it I actually got compliments about my bags being almost invisible! I really didn’t expect it to work so well but obviously it hydrates the skin under my eyes. I know a lot of people (including me) associate eye creme with old people, but it actually also exists for younger people who don’t use it for wrinkles. It really surprised me and I will definitely keep on using it!
